Hello, I'm John Girvan, the founder of MarinerCredentials.com, established in 2022 (formerly known as Seaside East Mariner Consulting).

I am a tugboat captain and hold credentials as a 1600 GRT Master Oceans and Third Mate Unlimited Tonnage Oceans, along with numerous National and STCW endorsements. My journey as a hawsepipe mariner has seen me through countless courses and upgrades, and like many in our profession, I’ve experienced the challenges, frustrations, and delays that come with the Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) application process.

Driven by my own experiences, I dedicated myself to thoroughly researching the regulations and policies governing our industry. This led me to develop an easy-to-use, online platform designed to simplify the information gathering and document submission process for fellow seafarers.

With in-depth knowledge of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) application requirements and procedures, I am well-equipped to handle the unique needs and goals of each mariner. Since founding MarinerCredentials.com, I’ve successfully completed and submitted hundreds of applications, assisting mariners across various endorsement levels. We've refined a systematic approach to managing all credential requirements, ensuring a step-by-step process that’s tailored to each individual.
